Case study (charities)

Whilst working for the International HIV/Aids Alliance, I visited the Zambia Country Office in Lusaka and facilitated a review and redesign of the onward granting process as well as writing the documentation.

The first step was to define the scope and outputs of the project which I did in a project document including a calendar of activities and people required to be involved. I also:

  • Facilitated a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) of the existing onward granting process
  • Facilitated the design of a skeleton outline of the new grant making system
  • Wrote the documentation for the final grant making system
  • Planned the implementation of the new grant making system with the Zambia Office Finance team.

For a London based global network charity I took on a voluntary role as Treasurer and mediated between the charity and the external accountant to overcome an ongoing issue regarding a deficit on unrestricted funds that meant the accounts had not been completed and filed. I ensured the late statutory accounts from January 2002 were filed with Companies House and the Charity Commission.
